I loaded a large multi page A4 document [hard to find since I use Letter] in Writer.
I then did the following:
File > Print > Page Layout
This should show you the option to print several pages on one sheet face. Plus you have the option to place a border around each page on the sheet.

I use Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and 3.4.3
I tried this with the following printers:
Epson Artisan 810, HP Color Laserjet 2600n, HP PSC 1410, and CUPS-PDF.

The document had the page numbers set up for the page number to be on the left side for even page numbers and on the right side for odd page numbers. The actual way it is done is not clear to me, but if you go to the footer of the first even page and do Format > Page I see the page layout is set to left only and if you do the same for an odd page, you get a right only shown in the page layout.

As I said, this was a large A4 document already created, and I just looked at the document's setting and tested a printing of several pages.

Hi :)
I think it's a setting of the printer rather than within LibreOffice. When you try to
print there is a dialogue-box. At the top is a drop-down menu to select which printer to
use and beside that is a "Properties" button. Then the printer's dialogue-box
appears and hopefully makes some sort of sense. Hopefully one of those tabs gives the
options you are looking for. You might need to actually have your hands on the machine
rather than doing this by phone or something.

It might be a good idea to give her the "get help" page so she can ask other
people rather than always relying on 1 person.

Also this forum seems to be quite good

Although she still might need support from you in order to understand some of
the answers!

Tom :)

I introduced a friend to LibreOffice
and ever since I've become some sort of support personnel.
Her office is downstairs, mine is above. Now there's a new
problem and I lack the experience. I never did any such
thing in M$-Word too.

She wants two pages to print on one paper (like having two
A5 page texts showing on one A4 paper). She wants it visible
on screen with page numbers showing for both sheets -- one
on left and the other on right side of the ONE mother page.
She claims its possible in M$-Word and I believe her. So, is
this feature in LibreOffice-writer or is this where I put up
an apologetic speech? Can someone save me the embarrassment
... Please? ---------------------------------------------
