Thanx to a list contributor who sent me a "private" memo, I now have 
icons on the desktop for the two (sections) of the program that I
wanted.  It was actually a case of not seeing the forest for the trees!
When I found a FOLDER for LibreOffice and snapped on it, it produced
a whole list of the separate portions of LO, each of which having a
little icon next to it, and all I had to do was copy that to the 
desktop. Woilà!
