The guide for installing a parallel version of LibreOffice might help, even tho you are certain you don't have one currently http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Installing_in_parallel Even tho you don't think you have a version of OOo or LO it sounds as tho your machine is fairly convinced you do do it might be best to play along as though it's right even if it's blatantly wrong.
