I had the same problem, and here's the fix: In OO or LO, in the print dialogue, there is a "properties" button, and from there, Device tab.
One of the dropdowns there is "Language". It defaults to PDF If you instead select "Postscript (Level from driver)" then landscape printing works. It's a bug in OO and LO, and can be "fixed" for each individual printing job. Unfortunately, I haven't learned a way to make the fix permanent.
