Thanks, Heinrich it helps to know the same problem exists on different OSs.
Here's what I've found on Vista: If I export to PDF and then reset the printer settings from my PDF reader (Foxit), I can print at any desired page size. It's a work-around, and doesn't solve the problem of printing directly from the ODF file. I find the same behavior in selecting text color (see the thread "changing text color."
