It seems to me that Regina's reply was based on the assumption that Larry was having a problem with Writer. Unfortunately, he didn't make clear until his second post that he was talking about Calc.
In Calc, there is a format button on the second line of the toolbars and it does succesfully change the view to landscape in my LO 4.2.8.2. The change to landscape also shows up in the print preview and then prints as landscape without further ado.
