We'll welcome improvements and are definitely willing to assist with
advice but we can't dedicate more to effort to this right now.

I wasn't meaning you should do it. Could we perhaps see the existing
Univa configuration to build on, say, RedHat 5, though? That might help
getting the bits working more generally that we've failed on so far, and
I should probably write some notes unless anyone else is in a better
position.

We just went through setting things up from scratch - each of our Grid Engine engineers did, across several OS platforms. So our memories are fresh. We can provide you with information for sure. Do you propose something like an interactive session to go over things or just a collection of pointers and hints followed by some Q&A.

An example of setting up the testsuite might be useful too; I
only got part way through figuring that out.

Congratulations! You're one of the very few who at least has tried ;-)

Should be part of the same exercise, I guess.

Cheers,

Fritz

I've made a number of changes that should improve the build process,
though I've only tried it on recent GNU/Linux systems and Solaris 10.
It's unfortunate that I can't contribute them, and some of the work has
been duplicated.

Is it because of the missing contributor agreement that you can't
contribute them right now?

I assume so, but I don't really know. The changes I've made are public,
anyhow (apart from very preliminary autotools stuff).

This is something we should take off-line and
address at the steering committee level then.

Yes, I think.
