Well, yes. It shouldn't, but SGE is quite touchy if it can't resolve a 
hostname. As you also have to enter a fake entry in /etc/hosts or alike to 
remove a machine from SGE, I wouldn't be surprise if it's here the cause too.

Usually it's the best, first to remove all references to a machine in SGE 
before one removes the name resolution for it.
