Did that already, following http://www.gridengine.info/tag/spooling/
and in particular 
http://www.gridengine.info/2008/11/11/fixing-a-berkeley-db-spool-database/
but unfortunately unsuccessful.

We have a cluster with several queues, each powered by 
a different sets of nodes. One of the last things I did 
this afternoon before the setup broke was to unregister 
all nodes which power the MSBI queue and my guess is that 
there are some references lurking, where qmaster 
trips a NULL.
