Gerard,

The fix is included in SGE6.2u5 p1 & p2, and GE 2011.11, and was used
by Dave's Son of Grid Engine until he copied another fix from Univa.

The fix or workaround in Open Grid Scheduler is safe until we almost
run out of addressable memory in 64-bit (so we are talking about
8589934592 TB of memory usage per process), and it does not introduce
compatibility issues - SGE6.2u5 p1 & p2, and GE 2011.11 can be safely
mixed with SGE 6.2u5 daemons.

On a related note - the fix in Open Grid Scheduler and the related
execd code will be written in a year or 2, as it is currently quite
messy (this applies to all versions and forks of Grid Engine). With
the re-write we will be able to get rid of the current limitations
(and we will discard the workaround as well), and yet there are still
no compatibility issues.

All tarballs from the "Open Grid Scheduler download area" have the
fix, and you can simply recompile or download the tarball from dropbox
and get the updated execd to replace your old execd.
