We need to send and receive SMS messages (no WAP pushes) to the US market
only, at a very low traffic. Probably a few thousand a week at the most.
Most of time, we'll do a few hundred.

We need delivery to be fast but not immediate. Our customers are willing to
wait a few minutes for receipt, but not more than about 10 minutes. We
expect to send messages to about 500 handsets at a time.

We don't need any PSMS features.

Kannel seems really interesting, and much more economical than going through
mBlox or some other aggregator.

Do I just need to go out and buy a GSM modem, then rip a sim card out of a
phone that I got through a carrier and I'm ready to go?

A really basic walkthrough would be very appreciated.

Matt
