It wasnt obvious that gmake was to be used .... for solaris n00bs its a bit
non-trivial ....
Plus initially we had Indiana (live CD) and had a hard time installing the
gcc from blastwave ...

All in all ... ensure that you have sun studio tools and use gmake for
compilation. The package building script inside solaris/ is borked.

All wrt opensolaris latest.
