I'm curious if you are using this in a Zone rather than just in the global.
Last night, I attempted to gain access to one of the serial ports to a test zone but it didn't work. No matter what type of configuration I tried, each time I brought the zone up, the port was not there. It's an older version of Solaris on the server though so it most likely needs patches...which with the number of zones that I have is not something that I want to do right now. So I plan on setting up a second server (sparc) and installing a fresh Solaris 10 8/07 hopefully this coming week. I should have the server next week. I've done a lot of compiling with GCC before so I don't anticipate compiling to be an issue. I've never played with OpenSolaris, but I might give it a shot instead. The Multi-Tech GSM serial modem arrived the other day and I was playing with it on my WinXP box the other night. Worked for the things I tried with it. > It wasnt obvious that gmake was to be used .... for solaris n00bs its a > bit non-trivial .... > Plus initially we had Indiana (live CD) and had a hard time installing the > gcc from blastwave ... > > All in all ... ensure that you have sun studio tools and use gmake for > compilation.
