WOW... This was a lot easier than I thought it would be.
I configured the port finally in a Solaris zone, tested it a while with tip sending AT commands to the modem.. (thats really fun...) Modem worked. I then grabbed a binary distribution for Solaris Sparc off of Sunfreeware, extracted it.... hunted around for a sample configuration, kludged one together, picked a wavecom modem example I found for the modem (don't think that is working), but set it to auto and it appears to configure the modem okay. So far, I really don't see much need to recompile it yet. I sent a couple commands and got what I expected... then went down the wrong road for a while when I tried to set it up to exec a file.... kept getting No Service Selected... finally kinda figured out the keyword thing a bit and it worked again. Tried the exec command, got what I expected back... and it works. I still need to clean up the configuration file up a bit (most likely a lot) as I have a bunch of junk in it that I most likely don't need (like wapbox which I don't plan on using)... need to figure out how the callback number is set etc... need to make sure the modem is being configured correctly and figure out the syntax on the keyword stuff (that is where I got messed up for a while)... and I should be good to go. I've not tried sending a new message out yet (I think that is called pushing), but that is not as important as what I was trying to do. Very cool. I'm impressed. BTW.. the PDF version of the manual is a bit hard to read with the descriptions not really lining up, but when I looked at the HTML version is made it easier. -- Kevin
