So if I'm wanting to send a message from a web application to an
arbitrary cellphone user in the US, I would interface my application
through Kannel over IP to either an aggregator (can you tell me where
I might find a list of aggregators), or I would negotiate my own
account with each operator (IUS Cellular, Verizon, AT&T, etc)?

Given the penchant for SMPP in the US, does that mean I would be
better served with something like Logica's OpenSMPP
(http://opensmpp.logica.com/introhtml/menu.htm), or can Kannel also
handle that?
