You can see the acknowledge received from SMSC that your SMS has been accepted by SMSC in smsbox.log if you have enable the logging, it will be like as follows;

Set the DLR-MASK to 24 and kannel just echos back to the DLR-URL if the message was ACK or NACK. But this only indicates if the message was stored by the smsc you are connected to. If you really want to know if it was delivered, set the full DLR-mask.
