In this case most likely modem would suit all your needs.

I've mentioned this because lately I've been seeing lots of questions about 
some of the modems not working with Kannel.

In your case speed should be enough.
 

It's the easiest for me to find and I can use a friend's one to test before 
buying one. 

Sure, go on, why not. Do not forget to read manual and google a bit (most of 
the questions were covered already in the past) before asking a question.
