Chirp uses the USB to program that radio and the Bluetooth programming is done with the odd master app. I don't like using the app unless I'm on vacation and don't have a USB cable and internet to use chirp. To update firmware on the Tidradio H3 and H8, you have to use the tidradio software. There are some 3rd party firmware out there but havnt tried any yet.
