While waiting for this, it came back to my memory that one or more
posters to this list had suggested not making /boot a separate
partition. Not having /boot separate would seem to provide more
flexibility. I wonder what (if any) risks and costs there are to
going that route. But I'll try it.
I don't know of any risks.
I had a little trouble with this. I think it was because /boot + /
added up to over 1 TB. After fumbling around, I got /boot down by 1
GB. That did it, though 1/2 GB is wasted. No big deal.
So you did make a separate /boot? If you had made the partitions in
order, the last one would have used the rest of the space automatically.
No. I did it as you suggested. I did not see any option to use the
rest of the space on that device. The space shown was rounded, which
might have been a part of the problem.
I don't understand what you mean about /boot and / adding up. There
were only supposed to be two partitions. /boot/efi and then creating /
would take the rest automatically.
You can use the live USB boot and gparted to resize the partition to
fill the rest of the space if you want.
You mean one or the other, right?
No, you need to run gparted from the live boot. You'll have to install
it and it will only exist until you reboot.
