unsure, if this is correct, esp. to get the grub menue visible [1], but try:
1. when the box boots hold the shift key => you should see the grub boot menu
3. press key "e" for edit
4. move only down to the init... line (cursur should be under the "i" from 
init...)
5. backspace key should move at the end of the prev. line right after "quiet" 
6. delete "rhgb quiet" with backspace key
7. crtl+x should boot that entry

before (!!!) pressing "ctrl+x": ESC-key should unchange all edits you've done 
so far (to start over) and you'll see the grub boot menue

alternative:
1. hold "e" key while the box boots
2. press ESC to see the grub boot menu (and unchange maybe multiple "e" in the 
first line)
from here see 3. until 7. above
