Reminds me of my current pet peeve: People whole lay cables all around a staging area, in a tangled mess, then put a carpet over the top. Argh! People stomping in cables does them no good, and the carpet doesn't protect them. It can be instant death to several crossed over cables in one go. And I had a nasty tumble when one cable rolled under the carpet, moving when I stepped on it, unaware there was one right *there*. Many decades ago it was firmly drummed into me when I first started to never walk on cables. When I'm faced with cables and carpets imposed on me by other people, I put them around the very edge of the carpet. That's the bit that you're much more careful stepping over so you don't trip on it. If I find someone moves things during a production, I put them back and tell them why.
