In my new notebook, the internal battery was only providing 60%

Anyway I just installed a bright new battery and web posts I found
said to run new batteries down and then recharge 3 times before
regular use. Or something like that.
Is there some easy app I can run (F44/xfce) to eat up power and take
less that the 2.5 hr the power app is saying this battery would keep
the system running for?
BTW, I am doing the battery exercise without the external battery. I
would think that would interfere with the 3x power cycling.
thanks
