Hmm, not sure about exercising batteries...  My old Asus laptop had a
BIOS feature to recalibrate it's idea of the battery's health.  It
killed the battery.  Straight away it went from being quite reasonably
useful, to barely enough seconds to unplug the laptop, move to another
spot in the house, and plug in again.

*I* wouldn't run them down until forced shutdown is reached.  It might
be worth more research about how much to exercise a battery.  I might
test something down to 30%, perhaps, just to see how well I trust a new
battery.  That's just me being cautious.

I've come to the conclusion that three years is a lucky battery life
with some equipment.  Though my 2018 phone's still going, but not as
well as it used to.  It may last a day if untouched, half a day if
being used.  Unfortunately it's a waterproof phone glued shut.  So if I
go out for a long time, I take a battery bank with me.
