Are you sure it's really a 1TB drive? Some cheap no-name drives are not
what they seem. You could use 'dd' to seek beyond the failure point and
try to write (or even read) something.
After I work out the return with Amazon, I will try something like
that. I **DO** want to delete my files before returning a bad drive.
Or just eat it as there is PII on the drive.
