That's not actually as good as people might think...
Put such a drive in a video security system, and the whole drive can be
filled in a few days if the resolution is high and compression low. So
a drive might only last a couple of years. Again, I consider that a
very short lifespan.
There is very little benefit to using SSDs in security video storage.
That's a major use case for spinning disks.
And what about 600 times to same/similar spots in the drive? There are
various applications that do lots of writes. Web browsing, audio
editing, logging, compiling...
The drive firmware will remap writes internally so you aren't writing to
the same place every time.
Another thing I see rarely mentioned is what about lots of reads to the
same locations? How well do drives stand up to that? And reading is
something that will always be to the same location, writing is more
open to writing to different spots each time (i.e. never overwrite, but
always write anew, and erase the old afterwards, though it is
deliberately fragmenting data).
Reading has no significant effect and the OS should be caching those
reads anyway if it's that common.
