Note that in terms of compiling performance, due to
the emulation overheads, you may find that building
natively on the Pi is actually faster than building
 in QEMU on x86.

Could you please suggest a modern ARM board for the RS development ?

In terms of price/performance, having had my hands on a new
Samsung Chromebook since Friday, it comes very highly
recommended. Dual core Cortex 15, 2GB of RAM, plus the
convenience of being a laptop with excellent battery life.

The keyboard and touchpad aren't quite as good as on my
Toshiba AC100, but it is the first time there has been
a worthy contender against to the AC100 in years.

I still haven't made my mind up on whether the trade-off
of a faster CPU, 4x the RAM and slightly higher res screen
make up for the keyboard/touchpad drawbacks for general
use, but for development use with lots of compiling and
linking, the Samsung Chromebook is an outright winner. I
just bought a second hand one on Amazon for £135. You can
probably find one on eBay for less if you bide your time.

Sure, it's more than $100, but the price/performance is
excellent.
