Specifically to the files you might need for different serial
console device nodes.
The first makes more sense. And the F19 setup has a /dev/ttyS0 for
console, but...
It says to make the file /etc/init/ttys0.conf
I just re-checked the wiki and I'm pretty sure it reads ttyS0.conf
(with the capital S) - but that doesn't really matter as long
as the contents are correct and it ends in .conf.
The is no /etc/init directory from the tar extract. There is a
/etc/init.d directory.
I just checked the rootfs tarball and it most definitely contains
the /etc/init/ directory and its contents:

And there is a README in that directory saying you are using systemd.
Do I really do a systemV start or do I have to figure out how to take
the systemd one from the F19 build?
It sounds like you are looking at the F19 image, not the RSEL6
one. EL6 doesn't use systemd.
