As you appear to need help and I haven't seen a response on the list
I'll chip in. I don't see any reply to your original post (or anything
quoted) so I can't answer the above question as I have no idea what you
are referring to.
With regard to your original post, to reset your root password, can't
you just follow your original install procedure and enter rescue mode
(linux rescue) at the first boot screen?
You don't say which ARM device you are using so its hard to help
further. Is it a UEFI system? There are many weird and wonderful ways to
install on ARM systems.
