I connected a monitor and keyboard and rebooted the one system. Was just given the option list that I cannot edit.

So what file on the sd card do I edit to add 'single'?

thank you
As you appear to need help and I haven't seen a response on the list I'll chip in. I don't see any reply to your original post (or anything quoted) so I can't answer the above question as I have no idea what you are referring to.

This was a reply to my earlier post. That even the monitor mode did not give me the option to edit the boot options.

With regard to your original post, to reset your root password, can't you just follow your original install procedure and enter rescue mode (linux rescue) at the first boot screen?

No. The original install procedure was to build an image that booted. I don't think my cookbook is up anymore, but there never was a rescue mode.

You don't say which ARM device you are using so its hard to help further. Is it a UEFI system? There are many weird and wonderful ways to install on ARM systems.

This is a Cubieboard2 (armv7) where I had developed and posted some time back how to get RSEL6 working.

Cheers,
Mike.
