that's nspluginwrapper, right?
It is.
what's your arch, i386 or x86_64?
i386. I foist 64 bit woes on my kids :-)
then you could start by uninstalling nspluginwrapper, it's for x86_64
and it could interfere with your plugins.
eg it doesn't seem to like the newer flash.
I believe I read that using nspluginwrapper is recommended, because it
lets plugins run in a separate thread or process or something, so
plugins can't crash your browser.
true, nspluginwrapper can help the *browser*, ie prevent it from being
taken down by a bug in a plugin.
I don't see how it could help the *plugin*, though. It's an additional
layer between the content and you, hence an additional place where
things can break.
Just look at the list of changes for nspluginwrapper 1.0.0:
# Fix support for Acrobat Reader 8 (focus problems)
# Fix support for mozplugger (in full-debug mode)
# Fix support for WebKit
# Fix crashes with Flash Player 9 Update 3 (9.0.115)
See http://macromedia.mplug.org/ for a bunch of tips and tricks for
running flash-plugin 10 (removing libflashsupport, installing libcurl,
installing both i386 and x86_64 nspluginwrapper on x86_64, etc.).
nice link, thanks!
NOTE TO RPMFORGE DEVELS:
It says that "Flash 10 requires either libcurl.so.3 or libcurl.so.4 or
it will refuse to load. Be sure libcurl.i386 is installed on your system."
Shouldn't this be added as a dependency in the rpm? It could explain
some issues, at least for x86_64 users where curl.i386 may not be installed.
