The part of the problem here is that they've dropped support for true static builds. I remember the hell I've got through to recompile it for Ubuntu 8.04 LTS, it took the whole day to download dependencies and fix obsolete patches etc. so in the end I was really scared to death. Anyway I am not really sure whether it is possible to do a static build of glibc... I wonder whether it is possible to link it against a newer version of glibc and bundle them together. -- Sincerely yours, Yury V.
