Looks like it doesn't make sense to try to patch around it, sorry. They
seem to use the latest features of Qt and if it was possible to backport
them easily, they wouldn't bump a whole revision.
I remember, however, that VLC had a number of other interfaces. Aren't
they worth a try?
As far as I know both Wx and Gtk have been discontinued. The other
interfaces are no replacement :)
To be honest, I think it would be good if we can convince developers to at
least support the latest RHEL release for their stable trees. It would
help Linux a great deal if software doesn't rely on the latest and
greatest libraries. Or at least also supports the older libraries.
But we have long way to go before that becomes common knowledge, if ever.
