Mhmm, I got the PMD plugin working with Maven B8 (and some help from Martin Poeschl) before it was moved to the MAVEN CVS.
This release can be found at http://sourceforge.net/projects/maven- plugins/
I tried this version, but it failed with the following error:
[echo] Generating the maven-pmd-plugin ...
BUILD FAILED
null:39:70: <taskdef> taskdef class net.sourceforge.pmd.ant.PMDTask cannot be found
