As a workaround, I've put the build.properties in my local user dir. The last time I was on the HEAD, I really messed up my repository, so I'll wait on that, but thank you for confirming my sanity ;)

It's a long standing bug, that everyone wants fixed. Jason's last refactoring has landed and HEAD has stabilized enough that it's possible to build after bootstraping.
