Strong +1. AFAIAC, this is *the* main issue with Maven for big projects.
The reactor cannot pass properties and the build/project.properties are
not inherited. I've tried to fix it in the past but I've not been able
to implement it successfully (I'm missing some knowledge).

If someone could do for RC1, that would be just great.
