Writing a book about Maven is not going to be a making making endeavour.
I too am certainly not against making money but that's not the primary
reason for writing the book.

Because the book provides an opportunity for people like me to work with
people who have years of experience writing. Having a book being
published definitely provides a lot of motivation for me plus working
with good editors ensures that what you are trying to convey actually
means something to your target audience.

In most cases yes, and the book also provides an opportunity to lay
those ideas down.
