We use Hudson, and every time a build fails it sends a complete email report to authors of recent changes.
Take a look, it's a public platform: http://hudson.fazend.com/hudson/(empowered by Hudson) Thus, when a developer makes a change which breaks the build, he/she gets an email immediately, with a full maven log. And he/she will continue to receive this email until the fix is committed.
