Thank you very much for your reply. I didn't think of this solution. Seems like a great way to block a repository and I'll let the rest of the team know about this solution. It would still be nice if we were able to block it on a URL and not a id basis and even better would be a way to do it without changing settings.xml. But this'll do for now.
