Yes, I think it does what you expected and it downloads the whole content of the files. :-)
I did checks on the content size and it matches. Honestly, your numbers are smth I expected to get - a small performance improvement (~10%). I don't know why the difference is so high on my laptop, but I'll test it today on some server.
