RE upgrade guidance - the recommendation is to migrate to the latest 1.x verison of NiFi (currently 1.28.1) and check for deprecation warnings in logs. Once any warnings have been addressed, upgrading to the latest NiFi 2.x (currently 2.1.0) should be good to go, provided the Migration Guides [1] are followed and you're aware of the highlighted deprecations between NiFi 1.x and 2.x [2].
