Hi,

Sadly, the hash symbols are a well known issue. So it does ring a bell for many
users.

In addition to Rory's link here is one where "some" cases have been captured:

OP not CCed by design (he's not subscribed to the mailing list).

Doug -

Its the repetitive hash tag / pound sign in the OP's (Sean's) initial post
which will make many readers think the initial message is SPAM.

Wade is not indicating / stating or implying that a spam message will
create the issue initially described by Sean.

Wade is telling Sean that a subject line should actually describe the issue
/ problem, and not be a meaningless repitition / hash of symbols.

Hello,
I am in dire need of some direction. I have been pouring myself into a
diary for the past 6 months on an open office word document. Lots of day
by day details which I need to have safe and secure. A few days ago I
opened up the program, clicked on the file and instead of 15 pages of diary
I have 15 pages of hashtags.
##############################################################################################
  and so on.
What can I do? How do I recover the doc? I have tired a number of
things and none of them did anything. I just can't believe that it would
just be gone like that with no recourse. Please respond quickly as I
need to continue to journal.
Thank you, Sean Keough

Some direction -> Subject line. It should describe the problem.
This one - it indicates spam.

Wade, can you tell us what kind of spam would create this problem, and
what (if anything) could be done to identify and block it? I'm not using
OO, but I suppose this sort of attack could

bollix up any program. Or does it only attack OO?
