more information. So I am would like to ask the users if they have seen this release of OOo crash when activating java from Tools > Options.

I was not certain if I should answer here or post this to the issue..... Perhaps I will do both....

I have no issues on my system, also fedora core 3. I know that you posted a link to the word activate in the message, but I am not certain what you mean when you say that you activated Java, because I do not have an activate button. I think, however, that I did this. Just to be certain....

First, I went to the Java setup. Of course, I already had Java listed there. I assume, therfore, that it is "Activated" or "Enabled". So, I turned it off! Then, I turned it on again. I can make two guesses.

Guess 1: Which version of java do you have? I am using jdk1.5.0_01. I think that I read that you must use 1.5 so I installed 1.5 BEFORE I installed the 74 development build. I do not remember where I read this and I could be very very wrong.

Guess 2: The JDK 1.5. is in my path...

I hope that this helps...
