Whenever I select a frame, floating frame or text box and try to enter text nothing happens. The activated border just sits there. I have clicked outside the border to deactivate and then inside the border to reactivate. The cursor appears as the bold 'move' cross which does not change when the box is activated. It will allow me to reposition the empty box around the page but no text appears when I type.
When you select a frame, you get the 8 handles to allow you to resize or move it. While it is selected, you cannot edit its contents.

A floating frame is a container for another document, either on your computer or on the internet or some remote computer. The contents of the floating frame are not directly editable, however, if you right-click inside the floating frame, you can select "Edit" from the context menu, which may allow you to edit the source document or a copy of it.

What you call a "text box" probably refers to a text Drawing object, created from the large capital "T" icon on the Drawing toolbar. The way to edit the contents is to double click the object.

I have tried copying and then pasting text into the box but this results in the text box dissappearing altogether and the pasted text goes on to the page and is not able to be repositioned as one would expect a text box to do.

I am using Version 2.0 of Open Office. I'm most likely doing something or not
doing something that is obvious. Can anyone help?
