Hi. I am developing a set of writer templates for personal use and want them to be the same on my notebook (Windoze 98 SE) and desktop (Linux) computers. (They are not networked.)

What is the proper procedure for taking a template from one computer to another - both for a new one and for an updated one that is already present on both machines?

When I transfer them using an sdram card and just copying them into my template directory, sometimes funny things happen - like the font changing from Times New Roman to Times (Both machines have both of these fonts) or my first line indent paragraph style changes from .5" to .2" "by itself".

Another (perhaps) related question: If you create a template the "wrong way" and just copy it into your template directory (see Bulletproof Templates Article), how can you later figure out that it's a "bad" template so you can fix or replace it?

Thanks.

      Joe
