I just upgraded to m100. I set my default template to the same one I was using under m95, yet my custom paragraph styles are nowhere to be found. I thought they were stored in the template?

I think that they are stored IN the template.
Do the exist if they are actually used in the template document itself, or are all of the styles missing.

I see the problem. The Styles I created were stored in the file I was working in rather than the template. They are present when and only when that file is active.

Now the question becomes, how does one move Styles from a document to its foundational template? I see nothing in either the Style/modify or Template/organize dialogs.

What happens when you save the document as a template? Seems as if that should work, but I haven't tried it yet.

Doug

That would work, but it's an entirely different function. I need the rudiments of template management. I have paragraph styles that I want to make available in my default template. It would be nice to be able to do that without either rewriting the template or recreating the styles. But it seems we're not there yet.

Paul

I think I have to disagree. When you open the document that was saved as a template and then the "Styles and Formatting" list (formerly, "Stylist") the new and modified styles are all available. What part of the picture am I missing? ==DT

Doug, not sure what you're saying here. I saved the file with the desired styles as a template. It showed up in the S&F list, yet the paragraph styles were not available for use in new documents, even when All Styles was displayed in S&F.

Even if this worked, IMO it would not be the right way to do it. I do not want to proliferate templates because I add styles. I want to be able to import new styles into one default template. I believe that's the logical way to do it.

Unless perhaps I've missed your intent.
