Okay. But rather than argue the point in this list. Why not enter an
Request for Enhancement (RFE) into Issue Tracker as this is the best way
to have requests such as this evaluated.

I would rather think that a little informal exchange, here, would be the best way to vet most ideas and problems. Then depending on what one learns from fellow users he could then choose escalation.

Err, isn't this the purpose of social and discuss? My thoughts are that
this list is the first line help for users rather than discussing the
merits of this or that part of OOo. Am I wrong?

Sorry, not following you. I am a user who needed help, and I got it. In the process some banter about how OO should be configured arose. That's a problem?

Paul

Considering the traffic on this list, perhaps. You seem to think your
problem is important so I suggested you file an RFE. You rejected that
idea. Thus the suggestion to move the discussion. You do what you want.

Now that the situation is clarified, I will consider filing a RFE. Whether here or there, the problem required discussion. It seems to me that this is a good place for preliminary discussion. Please let me know if I'm seeing this incorrectly.
