Our Mac version is designed for OSX only. It does not work on the
earlier version. On OSX Macs, OOo (OpenOffice.org office suite) will
open Microsoft Word documents, but expect a possible small amount of
incompatability. (Conversions are very accurate. However, with very
complex MS Word documents, conversions may not always be 100%
accurate.)
There are two possible solutions to your question. Upgrade to an
OSX version, or install a Linux partition in which OOo is installed.
(Yellow dog Linux is one possible choice.)
