I've tried to use the MS Word dictionary in OO but it gives me an error that
the file is invalid, yet it works fine in Word.

When I looked into the OO dictionary file format, it seems to have a LOT of
strange formatting/control characters. The Word one is only a long list of
words with nothing else.

I also tried to open the Word Dictionary (medical.dic)in OO and stepped
through it adding all the words to the dictionary. There is a limit to how
many words you can add to the personal dic. I only make it to the "D"s
before it tells me the dictionary is full.

Maybe I do not understand the question. But normally, if your dictionary is
readable by MS Word, it should be with OO too.
