How to un-subscribe a "forwarded" email address is clearly defined
towards the bottom...

For those who haven't bothered, here's the relevant bits:

"You can start a subscription for an alternate address,

for example "[EMAIL PROTECTED]", just add a hyphen and your
address (with '=' instead of '@') after the command word:
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

To stop subscription for this address, mail:
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

In both cases, I'll send a confirmation message to that address. When
you receive it, simply reply to it to complete your subscription.

If despite following these instructions, you do not get the
desired results, please contact my owner at
[EMAIL PROTECTED] Please be patient, my owner is a
lot slower than I am ;-) "

So, in Chuck's case the stop instructions should work (assuming he wants
them too) and if that fails, there's always users-owner.

Two things here: the confirmation goes to the subscribed address, and in this case that is an account that does not belong to the targeted person so it can't be confirmed by the usual process (though there's been discussion here of use of a mimic account, which might work).

True, it goes to the SUBSCRIBED address and then it is FORWARDED to the FORWARDED address. Unless the person who has the SUBSCRIBED address removes the FORWARD, the confirmation will go to the FORWARDED address and the confirmation can be replied to. No need for password, mimic account, forged email address, list owner's hat size or any OTHER information.

My understanding was that the confirmation had to be a reply *from the subscribed account* to be successful. If the confirmation action is going to a linked URL, or if a reply from an unsubscribed account is sufficient, the issue goes away, and somebody like Chuck could just use the indirect unsubscribe for the problem account. (Assuming the goodbye message isn't filtered, of course.)

 Second,
there seems to be a problem with the users-owner account being blocked or otherwise unresponsive, at least at times.

That's his problem, otherwise he would know how to get off this and any other lists he doesn't want to be on.
