Still not sure what your issue might be; I just printed the first 10 pages of the Writer PDF (Getting Started with Writer) using Adobe 8 (linux) to a dual sided printer (Canon MP-750) to letter and they printed fine. All of the pages have sufficient margin to 3 hole punch.
